How We Give Life

We give life by pouring out God’s grace, truth and love through group and individual counseling, hospitality, a serene environment to connect with God and world class recreational activities.

Pastors and missionaries and their spouses (if married) have 8 days to rest, reflect, and work with the guidance of professional Christian counselors on whatever issue or issues they desire to focus on.

The group time, as well as time shared in the lodge over meals, in front of the fire, hiking, fishing, or on the deck with a cup of coffee creates an intimate community of brothers and sisters in Christ sharing ministry’s joys and struggles with each other.

Many of those who come here are tired, stressed, and discouraged. Often there are marital or other issues as well. Marble Retreat’s program has been tested twice by doctoral students who did pre and post tests and follow up and both times Marble’s program was found to be effective in promoting healing.

We, the Marble staff, know it is because God shows up here when His hurting servants come and call on His name and seek His face. God’s Spirit moves in the hearts and lives and relationships of those who come.

Our beautiful lodge located at over 8000 feet elevation surrounded by higher peaks provides the ideal setting for those who desire to get away, reconnect with God, their own hearts, and others.

Encouragement

“We leave this mountain top changed people. Thank you for seeking the Lord with your competency, then so gracefully and peacefully leading and guiding us together and separately. We will cherish this experience and I pray we are able to recreate it at our home and share it with others.

As I leave, I am reminded about God’s word in Isaiah 63:1…....to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” 2009 alum

“It was clear – from the moment I turned onto Bannockburn – that Marble Retreat was a place for me to “belong ” – if only for 9 days. Perhaps, it is because Marble Retreat lives in the likeness of “shalom” … fullness, safety, rest, peace, harmony. Perhaps it is because Marble Retreat requires no credentials, no honorary name-dropping, no listing of particular listed “merits,” no set of certain and “atypical” moral failures – only a desire to hang up tattered garments of fatigue, disappointment, strain and stress. ”

“Thank you for all that you did and are doing to help ministry couples receive what they so desperately need. This coming November, we will be celebrating 25 years in the ministry.

There is no doubt in my mind that if we hadn’t have gone to Marble when we did, that would not be the case and, likely, our marriage would not have survived, as well. So may you continue to know God’s blessing as you minister His love, grace and wisdom to those who come to Marble.”
